Tank had Breached Into New York Anime Festival!

Believe it or not, this is my second anime convention so far. A bit more than a year ago, I dived into this anime fandom and since then I can’t surface. Everything, manga, anime, art, music, web resources and certainly conventions are so captivating and exiting to me.

So, here’s New York Anime Festival or NYAF for short. It had been held in Jacob Javits Center in New York City, same complex where annual New York Auto Show takes place. Complex itself is pretty huge, but as I’ve been previously warned by one of my friends NYAF occupies only one section of the whole center, and yes it is tiny.

First time being to an anime convention I went to Otacon in Baltimore, Maryland, and oh my goodness it was ginormous – 2 huge buildings topped off with thousands of people. I had a blast there. I’m not saying that NYAF isn’t worth visiting, it certainly is. It’s just a little less fun.

Jacob Javits Center as it looks from the corner of East 34th st. and 11th Avenue:

Ticket line was not as bad as at Otacon, in less than 20 minutes I was inside the hall.

What do you actually do at the anime convention besides socializing and browsing through dealers room.
I, personaly photograph cosplayers. Usualy taking tons of pictures:

Power Rangers, here they are:

Pretty dress, isn’t it? Makeup is awesome as well.

Blue Team, reporting in.

Another great costumes:

Can’t really identify the series. Awesome costumes indeed:

Kamina, Yoko and Luffy. Not sure about the last one.

Can’t ID the cosplay, but that bloke’s costume ana makeup is absolutely and utterly mind bogling:

Unknown, to me, character. Nice leathers, indeed.

The bloke on the right has his saber made of a neon tube, that actually lights up. Pretty impressive, isn’t it.

Reminded me of a Byson from Street Fighter, how he tried to start his wedding member…

Yet another Pyramid Head from Silet Hill.

Closely followed by a Nurce.

Gorgeous costumes, indeed.

Suzumiya’s brigade.

Batman and his rivals.

Old and new side by side: Imperial Stormtrooper standing right next to a Clone Infantry Man.

Help me to ID this cosplay for it is awesome. Still questioning myself, how this bloke can walk all day wearing those shoes, they are like small stills, indeed.

Right at the foyer three maids were meeting guests with free, one of a kind “Maid Hugs”.
“Irashai Masen, Goshugin Sama”.

Hina Ichigo and Kanaria Reika, spotted them having a nap at the lower atrium. Their costumes are absolutely precious.

As I already mentioned, my anime careeer is quite short, so help to ID that cosplay, for it’s awesome.

That bloke’s costume is just astonishingly detailed. Thumbs UP!

Chii and Hideki, nice couple, indeed.

The most detailed and impressive costume that I saw so far. I know for certain that each and every smallest bit and piece, of this costume is made by hand. Her craftsmanship is second to none.

Remilia and Reimu from Touhou Project.

And saving best for the last Transformers cosplay.
Everybody recognized Bumblebee, right?
Those cosplayers had a full size Trasformer that looked absolutely astonishing.
Still wondering how much time and money had been spent to create something like this.
This bloke even had a voice changer and threw funny replicas from time to time.

BEE-OTCH, yes he can say that to anyone without any fear of reprocautions.

Do you think that Clone Trooper will stand a chance against him?
Personally, I’m convinced – not a single.

Booth girls… Moe, Moe ~desu

Meido, wearing bunny ears and two lolis it just can’t get better than that.

Meido – Reni Mimura, besides beeing a cutie. She sings as well.

Another talented person right here, ladies and gentlemen. An artist and cartoonist most famous for his chalk 3D-like drawings – Eric Maruscak. I believe this bloke was drawing this picture for whole three days in a row. Myself being there only one, Saturday, only saw it being 1/3 and 2/3 done. Actually I was checking his progress every hour or so. His skill is truly superb.

Spontaneous Caramelldansen outbreak.

And later on, out of nowhere, appeared a snake – a buch of blokes running one after another shouting “YAOI!”. I found it mighty disturbing.

You just look at this bloke, what he’s doing shouting “YAOI!” Came to a party with his girl. Looks like an absolutely normal heterosexual to me.

Several activities were held throughout the convention.
In the corner there was a small fighting arena for a small fee of $5 anyone can try him or herself as a sword master.
Here’s an epic battle between Davig and Goliaph. FYI Goliaph won.

Center stage. Where cosplay promenade and different performances were held.
Some bloke is doing a geek-related stand up comedy, pretty funny.

World Cyber Games section of NYAF. Samsung brought a whole bunch of Alienware desktops to promote their SSDs. So several tournaments were held, was pretty entertaining. As for me, I’m not playing as many games as I used to.

Artist’s Alley, was trying to find a nice print to hang on the wall, unfortunately, didn’t find any.

Instead acquired an addition to my anime figurines collection. Two small, but utterly cute figurines.
Tsuruya-san wearing maid outfit.

And Yuki Nagato, both from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu series.
