Otakon 2010. Baka to Photos to Anime. part 1

My second venture to Baltimore for the largest anime convention on East coast. Was waiting for it, and unlike last tear booked my ticket about two month in advance, thus sparing myself from 2 and a half hours queuing under the blazing sun.
This time just walked into the main entrance and grabbed that badge.

And so it went, three days non-stop fun.
Like I was mentioning in my older posts I’m very much into photography. Not professional at all, but rather just for fun.
Enjoy… Otacon 2010 from the inside of the iron shell.

Tank’s venture to the north. Part 1.

Vacation, what a pleasant sound to my ear. So it happened, my long planned trip to Canada, at least a part of it, came to life, falling on a New Year holidays, that doubles the fun. Expectedly after a short snow storm on Christmas, weather came back to it’s original state, meaning a cold, dull and humid New York City. I didn’t want to stay in this snow forsaken megapolis, so on the 29th of December I shall be outta here.

And so we were on. 9 hour drive and 375 miles were ahead.
Grabbing a midnight coffee and petrol on the gas station in New Jersey.

Back from snowy Canada.

After quite tiering 9-hour drive from Montreal I’m finally home. 01-03-10_Montreal_Vacation

We were driving in a shear blizzard with zero visibility, sometimes, gushing winds, and icy tarmac. Interesting to experience but hard to deal with.

Do you have to cope with the same harsh winter weather conditions in your back of the beyond?

Maple country here I come.

Last year really wanted to take a trip north to Canada. Planned to hop on a car and visit the capital – Toronto, Montreal, and on my way back to stop by Niagara falls. But considering that hellish petrol prices that we had last summer, whole trip could tear a huge hole in my budget. Instead I spent summer scowing around Catskill mountains.

Now, in the middle of the winter, petrol isn’t that pricey, so it was decided to spend New Year holidays in Montreal. sounds like a nice idea to me, at least there will be snow there, and just maybe a whole lots of it. Man, I’m so very much sick and tired of spending New Year without snow.

So I’m packing right now, surely will be quite cold there, took several warm sweaters with me. Will depart overnight and will be there by dawn. Looking forward for a fun time there…

Window shopping in the City.

Once a month every Tuesday New York Exchange User Group Meet takes place at Microsoft offices on Manhattan. Couple of months ago I had a pleasure of becoming a member. Haven’t closely used Exchange server in any of it`s versions ‘till senior project came along and I had to deploy one in production environment. It was somehow easy to master, though it is so much more to learn about it’s livers.
Clocked out off work early this morning and went to the City to see Christmas decorations, specifically Lord and Taylor store windows. It has become a tradition for Lord and Taylor, Marshals and alike, to decorate their windows with holiday themes.

Tank Barges into Fort Tilden and Breezy Point. Part 3.

It is certainly true what they say that memories tend to fade over time. Looking back on my trip, I find it hard to remember all the details. Teaches me a lesson, though, to post right after the event. How to find time for all that, I wonder.
Picking up from where I lest the story hanging. Left that god forsaken, fake surf club, went around the block and started heading for the beach.

Few block pass and I saw it – a small path, heading towards the ocean. It looked like a stairs to the heaven, so do speak. According to the signs dogs don’t go to the heaven after all.

Tank’s favorite supply depot.

For quite some time I wanted to do a write up about my favorite Japanese super market that we have near by. There are 3 Japanese market places that I know of. 2 of them are on Manhattan, and going there is a pain in the neck. There is no parking there at all, and dragging all the purchases on the train is not a very good option either. So I go to Mitsuwa Marketplace.

It is not exactly around the corner, though. About 35-40 minutes driving cross Manhattan and you are in New Jersey, another 10 minutes north and I’m in the town of Edgewater, New Jersey, parked in front of Mitsuwa.
